Because uncapped lifetime deals are a slow-motion collapse, and everyone who's bought one knows it. Every uncapped lifetime sale adds a permanent service cost with zero recurring revenue attached. The usual endings: the product shuts down, the "lifetime" plan gets quietly redefined, or the buyers get throttled until they leave. We'd rather not build the incentive to betray our earliest supporters directly into our pricing.
Ninety-nine seats is the number a solo-run project can honor forever — real bandwidth for demo parsing, real AI costs for anti-strats, all of it sustainable even if every seat sells and every Founder uses everything, every month. That's the only version of "lifetime" that actually means lifetime.
And the cap isn't a marketing promise — it's a database constraint. Seat numbers are assigned atomically with a hard limit of 99; if two purchases ever race past the cap, the losing payment is refunded automatically before we ever touch it. The 100th seat isn't for sale because the code won't sell it.
Pro normally runs $29/year, so the math is simple: a Founder seat pays for itself in about three and a half years, and everything after that is free — plus the monthly tokens, which cover what would otherwise be paid Enemy-Scout usage, month after month, indefinitely. If you plan to be on FACEIT next year, it's the best deal we will ever offer. On our side, 99 believers funding the project early buys the thing a solo project needs most: runway that doesn't depend on a growth curve.
We've tried to earn that trade the same way we market the scanner itself — with a public, graded ledger of our predictions instead of adjectives.
